Just stand upside down and see how the world looks. Inverted! Correct. And that’s it. ‘Seer and the Seen‘ is all about changing the perception.
Man perceives the world as if he is all-in-all. He foolishly thinks that he is the ultimate doer, the supreme enjoyer, the final authority in his every decision. He devises great plans for success and happiness, money, and name and fame. He thinks, feels, and wills keeping himself at the center of all his actions. Even God occupies only a small sector of his life. Indeed! He, and only he, as he thinks of himself, is the Lord of his own life. Man becomes the seer, and God and everything else becomes the seen!
This is the root of all problems that the world is facing today. Humanity is suffering because man is artificially trying to become the seer, when actually man is the seen and God is the seer. When it is said that ‘Man is the Seen,’ this means that man is dependent on God for all his material and spiritual needs, and without the mercy of God he would cease to exist. He is meant to be enjoyed by God in all circumstances. And when it is said that ‘God is the Seer,’ this means that God is the supreme independent enjoyer of all that exists. It is common sense that God must exist. Otherwise who is behind all the motion and the energy in the universe? Who has created the complex design of the macroscopic universe and microscopic cell? Who maintains the universal laws of physical world? God is therefore a fact and not illusion. And since God is a fact, it is also a fact that He is supremely perfect, supremely independent, the cause of all causes, and the supreme enjoyer of all that exists. Everything exists by Him, of Him, and for Him. He is to be served and everything else including us must be engaged in His service. God is like a king who is the seer, and man and the entire creation is like His kingdom, which is to be seen. However, those who artificially think of themselves as the seer and God as the seen are like a mad man who thinks he is happy and blissful, but actually he is suffering in madness. They are completely out of touch with reality, living in their own false conception.
Only when man realizes, in the company of holy men, that God is the seer and he is the seen, only then can he be satisfied, since that is his real constitutional position. Therefore man needs to radically change and overturn his perception, flip-flop his way of thinking, and practice looking the world in an entirely new way. He needs to cross his limited way of thinking, break the barriers, and go beyond his biases to realize the reality that God is overseeing us every moment, every second, simultaneously from within our hearts and far away from His abode. God is however not a uninterested observer. Rather, He, the supremely satisfied, the source of all pleasure, loves us, more that we love ourselves. He expects something from man, for his sake, and not for Himself. He is waiting for the day when man stops trying to become the seer and submits himself at the lotus feet of Lord as the seen. And no sooner he puts himself in the humble position of the seen and realizes God as the seer of that exists, he would end all his sufferings, lamentations, and ignorance, and become supremely satisfied in the eternal service of God.
About the Banner
The images used in the banner are those of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Founder-Acharya of International Society of Krishna Consciousness), Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Maharaj, and Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. Following these images is a picture of Gaur-Nitai deities worshipped by Das Gadadhar who is one of the principle associate of Nityananda Prabhu. One can still visit these deities in Ariyada Gram, Bengal. After this following is the deity of Radha-Krishna.
So why this banner? The purpose of these images and the picture of the deities is to make us remember that the God and His pure devotees are the ‘Seer’ and we the living entities are the ‘Seen’.
